This is Maria, she is 12 years old and attends Igoma elementary school. When she was two years old, her father left the family and has never been heard from since. Her mother Paulina tries her best to look after Maria and her siblings, but has great difficulties due to a mental illness. As a result, she is rarely able to provide Maria with essentials such as food and school supplies.

The biggest challenge is a lack of food. Because she is always hungry, she finds it difficult to concentrate at school, which in turn affects her grades. The students are regularly provided with beans, rice and maize at school, but Maria's family cannot afford the amount of food.

The cost of school meals is only 10,000 TSH per month (currently equivalent to 3.33 euros). This would provide enough beans, rice and maize for a month. 

Please help us to support Maria so that she can continue to attend school with good concentration.
