What we do

The Faith-Africa Foundation is a non-profit, trustee-managed foundation - our operational location is in Mbeya - Tanzania - East Africa, and the FAF is also based in Usingen - Germany. The core purpose of the Faith-Africa Foundation is to meet single mothers and their children, to see their need and to provide solutions in their lives - so that they in turn can take steps towards growth...

Mbeya is one of the poorest regions in Tanzania, with the majority of inhabitants living in simple villages without electricity or running water. There is a lack of education, jobs, sufficient food, clean drinking water and medical care - here too, we do not want to close our eyes and help where we can.

About F.a.i.t.h

We are family - the Faith-Africa Organization lives family relationship & Jesus Christ is our center. We understand our ministry, all our actions in this context - to take people by the hand and accompany them into a growing relationship in Christian faith.
To provide care where care is needed, to support where support is needed, to encourage where encouragement is needed, to protect where protection is needed - we look at the needs of the child and are prepared to go the extra mile.

Open your mouth, judge rightly and defend the wretched and the poor!

About us

Our Faith-Africa family consists of passionate people - coming from fields such as medicine, social work, crafts, technical and commercial professions. Every single one of us lives in solid family relationships and raises children themselves. The service to the children and their parents here in Mbeya is provided by all of us on a voluntary basis.

Where we help

Mbeya is a city in south-west Tanzania, with an urban population of 649,000 in 2023. Mbeya is the capital of the surrounding rural region of Mbeya (the population together with Mbeya is approx. 2 million).

Mbeya lies at an altitude of 1,700 meters and stretches through a narrow highland valley surrounded by a bowl of high mountains. The area around Mbeya is also known as the “Scotland of Africa”, the hills are covered with heather and bracken.

Life in Mbeya

The people in the villages in Mbeya are among the poorest in the world. Many live on less than one euro a day, subsist on agriculture and often only eat one meal a day. Villages and farms are widely scattered, the roads are mostly made of gravel and are often impassable in the rainy season, electricity and tap water are scarce. Alcohol and drugs are the order of the day in the villages.

The need

Many children in Mbeya grow up in inhumane conditions. There are many single young mothers who barely have enough money to live on, as well as many orphans and street children. Sometimes these children are taken in by relatives, but their financial means are usually not sufficient to provide the child with an education. Many live in mud huts without sufficient food, electricity and water. Children without family care usually live on the streets. Unfortunately, there are also families who sell their own children or simply abandon newborns somewhere.

Our mission

Faith-Africa is an internationally active aid organization whose aim is to provide young and single mothers and their children with food, enable the children to receive an education, provide medical care and give young mothers the prospect of a hopeful future in their home country. Above all, however, it is important to us to lead every family we support into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
